I'm not sure if this will really work, but you can try it
at least. Find your last system restore point, save it to
a disk (or move it to a different folder maybe).
Secondly, you can turn off system restore, which will
delete all of the restore points. Then you should turn it
back on and put the old restore point in the folder you
got it from. This is pure guess work though, so you
should probably wait for someone more professional to
respond to this.

Do you know the actual file names or location to delete
directly?

C:\System Volume
Information\_restore{998BE36B-A229-4A8E-8811-88D197461128}\RP???
Probably best not to delete directly when Disk Cleanup does it for you.

Thank you Don, it it something a user asked us to do that
I agree would not be the ideal choice.I would actually
like to include the restore files in the backup done by
our 3rd party backup.

You do not want to delete them directly.
Do it from Disk Clean-up or from System Restore.

System Restore Points

When I try to use the System Restore Utility, I get an
error saying it cannot start the entry point or something
like that and says it cannot find the file winsta.dll in
the Dynamic Link Library. The file does exist in
winnt\system32 folder.

Greetings

To solve this problem, perform the steps given below:

Disable and then re-enable the System Restore feature:

1. Click the Start menu -> Run. Type sysdm.cpl in the Open field. Click OK.
2. Click the "System Restore" tab.
3. Click to check the "Turn off System Restore on all drives" box, and click
OK.
4. Restart the computer.
5. Click the Start menu -> Run. Type sysdm.cp in the Open field. Click OK.
6. On the "System Restore" tab, remove the check mark from the "Turn off
System
Restore on all drives" box, and click OK.
7. Restart the computer again.
8. Check whether you can use the System Restore utility.

If that doesnt work, do the following.

1. In My Computer, click the Tools menu -> Folder Options.
2. On the View tab, make sure to check the option "Hide extensions for
known file types".
3. Click OK.
4. Click the Start menu -> Run. Type "%windir%\inf" (Without quotation
marks) in the Open field. Click OK.
5. Locate and select the file "sr.inf". Right-click it and then click
Install.

Hi, I have a quick question.

Can a machine be instructed to create a restore point at every bootup?

Regards

Julie

System Restore has a mind of its own. It will only create a
Restore Point when it senses the computer is idle for a certain
period of time or when it senses an application or update is about
to be installed. One cannot selectively customize its operation.
