System Sound No Longer Functions After Windows/Creative Sound Upda

I did an optional Microsoft Windows update 48 hours ago which was to update
my Creative Labs driver software. This included my Audigy 2 Sound Card,
Creative Media Source, and Audio Stream Recorder 2, and my Volume Controller.
After downloading, during the installation of the download, my computer hot
booted and now I have no system sound. My sound card work, my mic works, my
volume control works, when I shut down the computer, either in hibernation or
in rebooting, my speakers make a pop sound which means they are working. How
do I get my system sounds back online. Before I did this download/update, my
computer was working just fine.

It sounds like the updates you installed did not include the drivers for your
sound card. I suggest that you check the web site for your sound card
manufacturer and download any updated Creative Labs drivers you may find.
Worst case scenario: remove the update from your system and reinstall the old
drivers!
