| Click Start, Run and enter REGEDIT Go to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Policies\System Look in the right pane for a value called DisableTaskMgr. If it exists, its probably set to 1. Double click it and set it to 0 (zero). If it doesn't exist, right click in the right pane, select New DWORD value. Name it DisableTaskMgr and leave it set at 0. -- Doug Knox, MS-MVP Windows XP/ Windows Smart Display Win 95/98/Me/XP Tweaks and Fixes http://www.dougknox.com -------------------------------- Associate Expert ExpertZone - http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone -------------------------------- Please reply only to the newsgroup so all may benefit. | Rich, The task manager behavior is symptomatic of a virus. See http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_t.htm#tm for information on trouble shooting this issue. For System Restore, ridding yourself of the virus may solve this problem. You may also want to check your System Restore settings (Control Panel, System, System Restore) to ensure they're correct. -- Doug Knox, MS-MVP Windows XP/ Windows Smart Display Win 95/98/Me/XP Tweaks and Fixes http://www.dougknox.com -------------------------------- Associate Expert ExpertZone - http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone -------------------------------- Please reply only to the newsgroup so all may benefit. | When I right click on the taskbar and click on task manager, it stays on a few seconds and goes away. I am trying to end the Worm process according to the Symantec directions, but my task manager won't let me. Is there another way to bring up the Task Manager window? | Guest
