If that does not work, check methods 2, 3 and 4 in that page. -- Regards, Ramesh Srinivasan, Microsoft MVP [Windows Shell/User] Windows® Troubleshooting http://www.winhelponline.com Winhelponline.com blog http://www.winhelponline.com/blog "ce ce" <cece@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:6AA8FD0F-CE67-4717-8569-C6618982EF1D@microsoft.com... my task manager is disabled by administrator. i saw where you posted on the last question about this to cut and paste that command on the start/run line. it came back wanting a reply from 'value disable taskmgr exist, overwrite y/n? how should i respond to this message. my computer is running fine now, but i do not have a task manager. | ModifyOk, for those of you that have tried this regedit command, "REG add HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Pol icies\System /v DisableTaskMgr /t REG_DWORD", if it does not work, go here in the regedit.... HKEY_Current_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Policies\System (This is in Wondows Vista OS) Locate the Disable TaskMgr REG_WORD and change the value to 0 (Zero) if it is set to 1. To change the value, RIGHT click on the Disable TaskMgr then click Modify... I had a problem where I couldn't select Task Manager, I didn't get any messages, it just wasn't highlighted, or available from the Ctrl-Alt-Delete screen. I found the REG_WORD and noticed it's value was changed to 1 so I changed it to 0 and guess what, I have task manager back. "Kati" wrote: Quote:
