Taskbar - how to restore a 'past item'

In "Taskbar and Start Menu Properties" in "Notification area" in "Customize"...
How can I move an item from "past items" back into the "current
items" area so that I can see it again?
I'd like to see "You have new mail" to always show again. Thanks!
