Hey Raven,
Are you pretty much only broadcasting online, or are you also on some
stations around the country? If I get a chance, I'll listen and maybe pop
in with a few questions/answers.

Actually, we started out on KFAR 660am in Fairbanks, Alaska November of '04.
We're just starting negotiations with two national networks to go US
national. We're still on KFAR and air all over Alaska, and we stream on the
net. As it is, we're moving up 3 hours into Saturday's prime time and
extending the show to 2 hours.

(I know, most people think of Alaska as lumberjack haven. It is, but at the
same time, because of the remoteness, it's also the most connected state in
the US. Which is why Teddy S. is heading up the internet council in the US
senate, and also why I cried during his last speech.

If ya REALLY want us to be on your local stations, call the talk stations in
your area and tell them to pick us up. That's how it gets done. My problem
is that I'm really picky and want control over the ads played during our
show. I hate listening to Kim Komando (the really BIG computer talk show
in the country) and hearing her advertise some of the worst software in the
world. Problem with THAT is that the networks don't want to give that to
us, so we're teetering on the national idea. I just won't give up that
aspect of our show. I can't advertise stuff that I hate, no matter how much
money they've offered us.

Check out the site. We just got the new one up, but as we go along it'll
have more info...

By the way. I did want to say that one of the things we like on our show,
as opposed to most of our genre, is when someone calls in with their own
ideas...

I listened from London, England. Good show. Sounds like a lot of fun to
produce too. And good promotion for your business. I'm thinking of doing
something similar myself. What kind of setup do you have?

Our setup is the radio station, which, if we didn't have to support the
show, we wouldn't have a show. Radio equipment is astoundingly expensive.
To be honest, I haven't a clue as to what they use for their setup, other
than they have a LOT of dials and knobs to play with.

That is a good way to do it. Unfortunately the only local station to me
is part of the state owned BBC and wouldn't be suitable. But I do
promote all over town with leaflets and Yellow Pages and the like. Maybe
I'll do a podcast that can be promoted in the leaflets.

TechTAK on Saturday

Okay everyone. This week's TechTAK show is the last in the afternoon
timeslot. We move to 6pm AKDT starting NEXT Saturday. (That's 6pm GMT-9)

Catch up on the topic and site news at http://www.techtak.com ...

We'd REALLY like feedback from folks on what you'd like to hear on the show
during the new additional hour we have to play with. (Yes, I'm sure
Nickleback or whoever your favorite band will just LOVE to come to Alaska
and play a free show for us, but we're REALLY looking for PC/Technology
items...

We're also looking for people to write articles/reviews for the new website
layout. No pay, but you can have your 15 minutes of fame... Stories may
or may not be edited for content/time constraints, so keep that in mind. It
*IS* a broadcast radio program, so language is an issue.

Check out the ABOUT US page for the history of TechTAK and what we're all
about...

BTW.

I want to thank those who've come to listen to our little show. The
response from this ng has been pretty good. We try very hard to keep the
mood casual, as I really hate having to tell people they can't
ask/comment/etc on things off-topic if they like. The only thing we keep a
rule on is NO POLITICS. lol

I'd like to invite you folks to come on in the chatroom during the show to
participate some. Syn, my LFWPT, pays pretty close attention in there while
we air on NNB, so it's not just a place for listeners to crumble, you're
actually a large part of the show that way.

The show airs THIS week only:

3pm AKDT (AKDT is -9 GMT)

Starting next week, we move to our new timeslot of 6pm AKDT
