Templates

When I for example right click on my desktop and go to 'new', is there a way
to add more templates there? I used to with XP with TweakUI, but since it
is not compatible on Vista, what else can I do? I want to add a 'PNG Image'
template because I use that more than the 'Bitmap Image' template for what I
do.

Long time sine I played with these things but I seem to recall that the
New-menu is just a folder somewhere in the Windows-folder containing
empty files with different file-extensions. Find that folder and add a
file and you should be all set.

Regedit. Navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT and find .png
Right-click on .png and create new key, name it ShellNew . Right-click on
the ShellNew and create new string value. Right click the new value,
Modify, value data box enter NullFile.

Bob's your uncle!!

Correction :

Regedit. Navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT and find .png
Right-click on .png and create new key, name it ShellNew . Right-click on
the ShellNew and create new string value and name it NullFile.

Getting myself confuddled trying to do too many things at once ;o)

OK, forget that. Can't get it to actually work, even though it does create
the "new png image" option. Will experiment further.

Did not work for me. I right click, go to new, and still no PNG image or
the like. I even tried restarting my computer.

Strange, you have the same key in regedit that I have. Option for 'new png
image' came up on my right click as soon as I closed regedit. Didn't even
have to reboot.

File associations: what have you got for .png images? Both for open and
edit?
