terminal services

I have Citrix ICA client loaded on my laptop using XP.
Last week I started receiving a Terminal Services warning
saying my license was about to expire. Now when I try to
connect to the Citrix server on my network via a WAN I am
not able to. Is this related and what do I do?

Yes, it is related. I just went through this whole
process myself. Your server has terminal server client
access licenses (TSCALs) that you purchased at some
point. If you bought 10, for instance, as soon as 10
computers that don't have a TSCAL attach to that server,
the server hands out one TSCAL to that computer. After
it uses up its 10 that you purchased, it hands out
temporary TSCALs which are good for about 90 days. When
they are about to expire, you get the message you are
talking about and when they do expire you are unable to
make a connection.

If you have Windows 2000 (I believe) or Windows XP
Professional, these computers do not require a TSCAL from
the server as they have their own built in. If you find
that some of your TSCALs are being taken by computers
that don't use them, you can call Microsoft to have them
reissued. There is a lot to this issue that is hard to
convey here. Let me know if you have more questions.

I left a lengthy reply over an hour ago that I think
would help you, but for some reason it hasn't shown up
yet. If this one makes it, email me at drasche@hanson-
dsl and I will try to help you.
