I saw that the XP remote desktop feature can be
configured to be used in 2000 terminal services remote
administration mode. Is there a way to do this?

Thanks.

That was interesting. I setup my other machines to use the "in house"
connect dialog and now I realize what was not made clear on many web site
instructions. That is that there are two different remote desktop scenarios.
One is for "in house" remote and the other is for outside the network
remote. I was using the outside approach and it had been working. I was
using it for in house to, i.e. typing the address of the main computer.
Now I can get to my main computer from my other computers, but I still can't
connect using the ip address as I once did until the ip address changed. I
tried turning off my firewall and that didn't work.

For Terminal Server/Remote Desktop Sessions:

Windows XP Pro - Currently 1 Total Session

Windows 2003 Server(s) - Total of 3 Interactive Sessions (2 RD & 1
Console accessible remotely) Free with OS; virtually unlimited with
license purchase and application mode.

Windows 2000 Server(s) - Total of 3 Interactive Sessions (2 TS & 1
Console Session NOT remotely accessible) in Terminal Services
Administration Mode (Free); virtually unlimited with license purchase
and operation in application mode.

Windows NT 4 TSE (I don't think it is available anymore) - virtually
unlimited with license purchase

I have a client that would like to remotely access his XP
Pro Machine from the road. The issue is, he runs a faxing
program that needs to be running at all times and when you
remotely log on won't this log off the console user and
stop the faxing program
Is there a way to set this up so when he accesses the PC
from the road the fax program will always be accessible?

If he logs on using the same username as what is logged
on already, the session will stay active.

He could also put a shortcut to the fax program into the
All Users startup group, so it starts up whenever someone
logs on.

How do I install Terminal Service on my XP computer? I have tried running
the ADMINPAK.MSI from my Win2K server CD, but I get an error saying that
Administrative Tools is incompatible.
