the text in some application boxes won't fit

for instance when opening properties, display,advanced,3d I can only see half
of the information in the box I've tied every thing I know to no avail
system info:
pentium 4 2.8ghz
ati radion 9200se
512mb ram
17" flat screen monitor running at 1280x1024 32bbp
