Thanks for tip re WMM crashing yesterday TMPGEnc worked a treat and I cut the file up into much more managable size files in the procesAre there any web site that give a simple laymans overview of all the different video formats and codecs, I feel completely lost and just have to use wizards and leave the defaults. I Feel if I could only understand the jargon I would get on a lot better and know what I was doing was the best way of doing it

Dave,The best reference that I know of for the layman is a magazine... Volume 8,
Issue 8 of the SmartComputing Help Desk Learning Series.... the issue is
titled 'Create & Edit Videos & Photos On Your PC'. But it's not a current
issue (it was a summer of 2002 issue) and I don't know where to order one if
they are available.... you can check at www.smartcomputing.com
Yes, there are lots of them and more are being invented all the time.
