Hi Gemma,
Guess my first inclination is that you haven't removed all the virus.
What was your proceedure for removal? How do you know you are clean?

There is a restore method on you computer, you may be able to restore to
a restore point prior to the virus attack when everything was working. If
you restore, remember to go to windows update and load any security files as
these will be lost on restore. (Once you are absolutely certain you are
clean and running well, set another restore point, then you can return if
all goes down the drain again)

Thanks for your post!

Hi sims player,
Here's some useful information and a link to the Hotfix:

1. For installing most games on Windows(r) XP, be sure to
use an account that is a member of the Administrators group.

2. If you are running Windows XP hotfix 328310 and attempt
to install a game you might receive this message from the installer:

"Attention XP users: Since you have Windows XP hotfix 328310
installed, please install Windows XP hotfix 329623 before installing".

Hotfix 329623 will fix a problem where the InstallShield would not
shut down properly after installing your game.

To download Windows XP hotfix 329623, go to:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=329623 and click on the link in
the center of the page which reads: "Download the 329623 package now".
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en <== or use this
direct link to the hotfix.

Hope this information is helpful, and best of luck to you! :-)

HI Mandy.

The following document on EA's support page might be of use

Hope that's of some use. 8-)

You can restore that file to it's original form. Here's how...

Follow the instructions in this article:
http://support.microsoft.com/default...&Product=winxp

*OR* To restore autoexec.nt:

1. Click Start > Run > type: msconfig (Press ENTER)
2. Click the "Expand File..." button
3. In the "Expand One File from Installation Source window"
Paste the following values (or use the Browse button):

File to restore:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\AUTOEXEC.NT

Restore from:
C:\i386\AUTOEXEC.NT_

Save file in:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\

Click Expand to start restoring the file.

Afterloading the SIMS 2 Game, the game appeared on the screen slightly off
centred on the screen.

I tried changing the settings of the monitor and it did not work.

I also tried through contro panel but it did not work either.

conclusion: could mot play the game and ended up frustrated.

Please help me out

That problem might happen if your card is unfortunately
not one of the cards supported by the SIMS 2 game.

For the list of graphic cards supported by SIMS 2:
http://thesims2.ea.com/help/detail.php?help_id=21

Here's a couple of ways to identify which video card you
have installed on your computer.

1. Click Start / Run / type: dxdiag
Click the Display Tab
Look under Device for the name and manufacturer

2. Click Start / (Settings) Control Panel
Click Display
Click the Settings Tab
Click the Advanced... button
Click the Adapter Tab
