Is there absolutely no way to completely disable thumbnails in XP?

Posted: 09-19-2003, 01:15 AM

I have looked far and wide...eagerly searching for a tweak, tip or
hack that would allow me to completely turn off the thumbnails in XP.
Alas, no matter what steps I take, no matter the promise held out by
TweakUI (et al), the next time I right-click to save a picture in
Internet Explorer, the "My Pictures" folder invariably displays them.

Now, maybe some folk like this "feature" (I am fluent in a certain
version of "French" which would better supply an adjective more suited
to the true description instead of the word "feature"...but I'll be
nice) but to me it is an annoying "toy".

The best I have found is the tip that shrinks the thumbnail to 32pts.

So I humbly lay my query at the feet of the esteemed and worthy
experts in this group: Is there NO way to get rid of thumbnails
everywhere on my XP system..."My Pictures" included?

Thanks for wading through my minor rant.

I have all of my folders set to Details (setup using Folder Options). I
never see thumbnails. Not even in dialog boxes...

Thanks for the assistance. I downloaded and installed (via
double-click) the "disable" reg-patch but it didn't change anything.
When I'm in IE and right click to save a picture, it still gives me
thumbnails in the "save to" window. (Also clicked "ok" on the dialog
asking whether I wanted to dd it to the registry and then rebooted.)

Any other suggestions?

Again, thank you for the help.

You are welcome. However, the save as is a different story. That fix
hasn't been found as of yet other than Delphi, third party.
