Is there a way to delete the updates once they are applied?

Dear Gang...

Is there a way to delete the updates once they are applied? I've no
intention of rolling them back out, but expanding the hard drive as so
often mentioned is not as easy on a laptop..

Or, at least burn them off to a cd?

You *can* if you want...

Showing Hidden Files:
http://kgiii.info/windows/all/genera...den_files.html

Then find in C:\Windows (or your Windows directory) the $NtUninstallKB******
files...

To burn them you'd have had to download them as a separate install via KB
name.

Thank you, Galen!

so that's where they live... and I can see why you'd need to download
them, as the exe / msi files come in one piece, where here are the
scattered "parts" that has no one thing to run..

Do these files get referred to at any time other than installation? I
don't want to burn my tail off with a plasma torch!!!

Well, yes, yes they do... Well the uninstalls don't really unless you want
to uninstall an update (or if they do I haven't seen them) so the uninstall
folders *might* be okay to delete. However... Do you REALLY need the space
that badly? ;-) Wouldn't you be better off removing some non-system files to
backup? Maybe uninstalling that freeware application that you thought looked
really neat and still haven't figured out why you downloaded it? Is there
any reason to have 1500 4 MB photos of the kids feet that you thought you'd
remove from the camera but decided to backup to the My Pictures folder
first?

Well, I don't know if any of those are accurate... But...

Take a trip, download, root about, and see what you can get rid of.

Galen,

We've been there, done that.. I do have some pictures and so forth, but
the main "picture server" is my son's desktop.. This is only a 6Gb
laptop.. ;-) However... hhmm.. So, what you're saying is that you've
not SEEN it referred to, but it may be referred to.. So it's dicey, esp
with my check book laptop. (due to games on my son's desktop, that kind
of stuff is verboten on his machine... ;-) )

I suppose we could dump the clip art off Office 97.. that would be 600
megs right there..
