time/date lost when copying .mpg files from camcorder to pc

Posted: 05-19-2006, 11:24 PM
When copying movie clips and pictures from my dvd camcorder to my pc, I lose
the time/date information for the movie clips (.mpg files). It doesn't
matter if I copy from camcorder to pc or if I copy from finalized dvd to pc.
I'm refering to the time/date info that appears when you place you mouse
pointer over the file name. After it's on my pc, time/date is gone.

It appears that different types of multimedia files retain different amounts
of info. .jpg files retain every detail, .avi files retain some info, .mpg
files retain only the date copied from camcorder to pc, not the date/time the
video was created.

Thanks for your replies.

Dave
