Default Today's warning from Dept. of Homeland Security re security flaw

I have Windows XP and also have Norton antivirus and
Norton Internet Security. Are these two systems enough
to protect my computer from all hackers mentioned in
today's Atlanta Journal Business section?
Norton's Internet Security has alerted me to at least 4
tries by hackers since I installed it last week.

Hi Dot,

you should also patch your system. Viruses and exploits are usually out
before antivirus so in this case your Norton AntiVirus won't do you much
help. Few hours can be enough for you to get infected...

You can get your patches at www.windowsupdate.com

Dot,

Ensure you have all Critical Updates for Windows XP from Windows Update.
And close any ports you do not require in bound access on, on your firewall
and obviously you ensure that your anti virus software is up to date and
scanning all files and attachments etc.

What does it say in the Atlanta Journal Business section today ??

Those warnings aren't real. NIS is notorious for constantly saying that
you're being attacked. I uninstalled (among other things) it because it
kept thinking my ISP was an attacker. Just get a good quality, easy to use
firewall, and keep you're computer up-to-date with patches.
