Totally Lost

Posted: 09-21-2003, 06:42 PM
I recently installed a BLITZZ wireless USP network adapter
and a Notebook wireless card on my desktop and laptop
computers.

I followed all the software instructions carefully but
haven't been able to get it to work yet.

I've done every "troubleshooter" available and nothing has
worked. I can't "ping" as the MS help pages suggest (from
the command line prompt) and I'm assuming I got the IP
addresses right since I followed their instructions.

Still, although everything matches, channel, SSID, etc.
When I try to see "Computers in my workgroup" it tells me
that my workgroup is inaccessible and I should contact the
system administrator. Well, since it's only MY two
computers I don't have a system administrator and I've
followed every direction to the letter. Even to the point
of uninstalling everything and starting over again from
scratch.

Does anyone have a clue what's going on and how I can make
this work? Microsoft makes it sound so easy but I've come
to learn that nothing with the Microsoft name is really
easy.

Any help in very plain and detailed language would be
appreciated!

Thanks!

Have you confirmed that you have a working Ad-Hoc wireless connection
between the computers?

Set up the connection with WEP encryption disabled. Enable WEP
encryption only after you get everything else working.

Disable the Internet Connection Firewall on both computers' wireless
network connections, as shown here:
