TotalMedia Software not compatible with other devices

that I would have problems coping with broadcast reception in my
area. Certainly that is true and I have come to realise that the
wonders of HDTV are going to bring with it a new class of people
that, unable to afford cable, may find themselves without television
in 2009.
If that was only the end of my trial problems. I have been using a
Sony Walkman 'Mp3' player... well actually this is the version made
before Sony broke and offered rthat possibility. It plays Atrac3.
But that is not the issue. Even as a digital memory stick I have
found it would connect to any computer with Windows XP (various
flavors) without a hitch, prior to my installation of TotalMedia.
After the installation of TotalMedia which is necessary to use my
Pinnacle Extreme HDTV stick... my Sony Stickman seems to be
unrecognizable in any manner. So apparently in the year 2009, I may
find that not only will I not be able to watch tv but also unable to
use my Mp3 player. Except that it's not 2009. It's 2008. And other
users appear to be correct... TotalMedia does not uninstall from your
system no matter what you try to do. Talk about your virulent
malware. Malwarebytes: Do we need an update to deal with software
like this?
Not only am I annoyed, I am stumped. I am stuck with a new pricey
device that only manages to operate well on any of my computers with
analog tv, and at that, it does not offer the option of recording in
economical formats, so recording a lowly newscast or average (zzz) tv
program demands a great deal more of space on my hard drive than my
previous ATI tuner ever needed to do the same job. ANd it would seem
that barring some sort of miracle I may now be stuck listening to the
same albums I copied to my Mp3 player until I throw it away.
This is progress? Anyone with any clues (as I appear to be rather
clueness for the moment) would be obviously welcome to help in
resolving, if possible, this annoying conflict. My question would
be, after looking at these posts, did the people at TotalMedia or
Pinnacle ever test this software or the device on any computer than
had any task to do other than to watch video? My second question
would be, since my computers are 3.4ghz CPU and 2.4ghz... When will
I too be able to buy the ultra super computer that is up to using this
new device? Is it on the market, or perhaps a few light years away?
Actually to be honest, I think my computers, given a pristine
broadcast signal (house located under broadcast antenna of stations
involved) might be up to this task... I would simply like to get the
use of my Mp3 player back for now. Unfortunately this software seems
to smack of some of that Sony-Microsoft update magic in which one
finds many previous functions on their computer will never be
available again. This is the sort of thing that brings a wirehead to
the conclusion that computers in general suck.
Grrrr. There must be a lawsuit applicable to something like this.
