TouchScreen drivers

<rant>Is it just me, or is the search engine here absolutely useless. I can even type in a search term that is already displayed in today's list and it doesn't find anything!</rant

Because I can't search, does anyone know if the 3M/MicroTouch touchscreen drivers have already been componentised? Also, does anyone know of a source for InCtrl5 (since the pcmag site appears to be no more).

I have seen (and downloaded) a serial 3M/MicroTouch driver a
www.xpefiles.com.
AFAIK InCtrl5 can also been downloaded from www.spefiles.com.

We were using the same 3M Touch screen for our product... You should find
them from the 3M website.. Ask the 3M support technician for the latest XPe
related components..

Hi All,

I just got off the phone with 3m touchsystems tech support and they say they
are aware of the l
ack of XPE support. It is on their radar but it seems unlikely that they will
in the near future have
an XPE component.

For my application, I'd be perfectly happy to run the installer (which
supports xp) on the XPE
target, rather than create a component. As far as I know, this is a perfecly
legitimate way to do
things, though it is a bit inconvenient from a XPE config point of view.

The problem comes from an InstallShield on XPE bug which seems to have been
discussed on
this group. The installer successfully unpacks the cabs (I can see it merrily
chugging along) but is
then unable to see the files and says something like:
Fatal: can't locate mtsinstall2k.dll.

I can extract all the inf, reg, dll and exe files that comprise the
installation and I understand that
I can process the .inf files with the XPE tools and create a component.

Is this the best way to go? All comments appreciated.

Michael

Michael,

Componentizing your driver is always better way to go (not unnecessary installer heavy components in your image).
Also, look at www.xpefiles.com. There is one or a few 3M components already there.
