Tracking a stolen laptop?

Posted: 07-03-2006, 06:55 PM
So, someone broke into the house we just moved into and stole a laptop. We
had 40+ gigs of photos on that computer from the last 10 years or so and only
want those photos back.

The laptop has a wireless card built in and we assume that the thieves may
try and use it before dumping it at a pawn shop.

Anyone have any ideas on tracking it?

Thanks for any help.

This is a Windows Vista Hardware support group -
using hardware in the Windows Vista O.S.

You're in the wrong place for tracking a lost
laptop!

I'm sorry for your loss and sincerely hope that you have backups. If not,
start now.

Unfortunately I don't think there's any way you can track it unless
you have some specific device in there used for tracking.
