Go out and buy a PCI firewire card and you'll find life is much easier.

It will take you all of about 2 minutes to install.... turn off the PC, open
the case, slot the card into place, close the case and restart the PC. XP
will install the drivers automatically. Just remember to check whether the
PCI card has a firewire cable included, you don't want to come back from the
store with the new card and find out you then have to go back to get a
cable!

No... just slot the card into the PCI slot and close the case. Restart the
PC. Provided you've inserted the card correctly, XP will do everything
else!
