Make sure you have a nearby disk with all the new drivers on it ahead of
time. It's also possible your install won't like your IDE controller, so
install the drivers for it BEFORE you make the move to the new system.
As for activation, the worst that can happen is that you will need to call
Microsoft to get a new activation key. I've gone thru the same thing before
at least 4 times (I'm still runnning the original hard disk from my very
first install of the retail version of XP from a few years ago, with the
SAME install!), and it's a painless 5 minute phone call.
