Try this fix to see if it repairs your problem, Before Posting. This
solution has worked for
some people with problematic USB and General Devices:

1. Locate the file INFCACHE.1 in C:\Windows\inf

2. Right click on the INFCACHE.1 file, select Properties >Security > Edit,
and give your account full control.

3. Delete INFCACHE.1 (Or just to be safe, rename it to INFCACHE.1.BAK or
temporarily move to your desktop but you shouldn't need to, windows doesn't
need that file to run, and if it needs to it recreates it).

4. REBOOT

My device problem is that USB ports go to sleep and I have to unplug and
plug to wake them up. I followed what you suggested and I think the
onscreen popups that give a USB error have stopped, but I still have one
left: my CH Yoke and Pedals for FSX are usually asleep when I start up FSX.
After unplugging and plugging, it wakes up and works. It usually doesn't
fail after waking up, except for one time when my USB printer wouldn't wake
up until I unplugged and replugged the power cord (it has a USB wakeup, so
it doesn't completely restart when a print job "turns it on"). The mobo
port works the best; I have more trouble with the rear ports that connect to
USB connectors on the mobo, and the least success using USB hubs. I
absolutely have to connect my USB mouse to the main mobo USB jack or it's
dead. I suspect it has something to do with speed.

humm, well my suggestion and i should've specified that in the message is
for people having trouble with vista recognising the driver or the device, i
wish i could help you with your problem unfortunatly a lot of people have
been having trouble with unwakeable devices and no one lately seems to find
a solution to it, i believe that it partly vista's fault, hopefully they'll
be a hotfix soon
