| I have been trying to put this program on my notebook for 8 days. I have talked to at least 9 technicians and they can't seem to help. I have deleted all antivirus programs,& ad aware, and have downloaded and run the removal tool from AT&T, and also my Avira program. I tried to install in safe mode etc. The problem usually is when after I download the program and run it, & the instashield is starting to run, then it stops. I have the new version of Internet Explorer, Vista Premium on my pc. Thanks to anyone for some help. -- Carol | Guest

groups suggest that using avg free (http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1) or other free virus scanners will provide all the protection one needs without some of the detrimental effects seen when using mcafee or norton products with vista. I install avg free on computers that I work on, and have been quite satisfied, as are the users, with the workings of the product. One caveat would be to NOT install the email scanning component on any scanner you might use. It is a redundant check and can cause issues with email programs. With avg, one would use the custom installation and uncheck the box for installation of the email scanning component. Others may chime in with more suggestions as to products to use. -- norm | Guest

| Thank you Norm for your response, the reason I was trying to put AT&T on is because it was free with my high speed DSL with AT&T. I thought it would be a better program, and when I had the AVI I kept getting pop up ads to upgrade. I appreciate your input. -- Carol "Carol" wrote: Quote:

popups is because you selected to register. If you install again, don't register, and you shouldn't be bothered. You also to not have to do a scan every day, and with dsl, you do not have to change the default of when to receive updates as your connection is always "on". You have nothing but a bit of time to invest in trying it again. -- norm | Guest

| Hi again. I downloaded the program as you suggested, and unchecked the email part. It installed good as far as I know. The program I was using before was AVI but I think this one (AVG) is going to be better. I sure hope so. If I have any trouble in the near future I will post it. Another thank you Norm. -- Carol "norm" wrote: Quote:
