TrueType/Opentype Problems

Posted: 08-07-2003, 05:50 AM
We started upgrading from Windows 98 to Windows XP Pro
and discovered that documents that were created in Office
2000 or XP and stored to the server display properly but
do not print correctly. Characters are improperly spaced
or print over one another. This happens no matter which
brand of printer that we print to (HP LaserJet 4050,
Lexmark, Sharp AR-407). The same documents retrieved to a
Windows 98 PC and sent to those same printers print just
fine. This is a large law firm and this issue is
threatening to derail the upgrade. Any suggestions?

Are all the fonts that were included in your 98 Fonts folder
(c:\Windows\Fonts) also duplicated in the XP Fonts folder
(c:\Windows\Fonts)?

If not you will have to add and install them.

I have not moved any of the Windows 98 fonts over to the
new XP machines. Most of these documents are 10 or 12
point Times New Roman. As far as I can tell, no font
substitution is happening.

Thanks
