Default Turning off remote access

Recently installed Vista Ulitimate x32, last night I turned my pc off only to
see 5 mins later the pc turn itself on. I could not see any log or activity
of what caused this! Pc connected via modem to internet - is this someone
polling my IP address or what?

This happened previously in XP and there was an option to disable the Wake
on Call feature. Once activated I never go this again.

Is there (& where) a Vista security feature to disable remote access/wake on
call?

Thanks

Default Re: Turning off remote access

In the Device Manager right click on your Network Adapter and pick
Properties. Click on the Power Management tab. Make sure there is no check
beside Allow this device to wake the computer. There may also be a setting
in the computer BIOS that needs to be disabled.

i think you disabled this feature from bios, so in future if you
migrate any operating system you dont have worry about disabling wake
up on call.
