| I uninstalled AVG Free and installed Zone Suite 7.1 However, Security Centre is still reporting that AVG Free is still installed! So according to Security Centre I have two (2) anti-virus installed when AVG Free has been successfully uninstalled. This cannot be secure if Security Centre thinks an anti-virus program is still installed when it has been uninstalled... SO MUCH FOR VISTA SECURITY | Guest

| You could try this: Right-click Command Prompt and Run as Administrator. Type the following command: winmgmt /verifyrepository If the system returns "WMI repository is not consistent", run this command: winmgmt /salvagerepository The first time you run this it will fail. It will issue stop commands to the services causing it to fail ( saying "A stop control has been sent to a service that other running services are dependent on"). It might take a couple minutes for the services to shut down. Run the last command again. You actually may have to run it 3 times before it finally runs and completes on its own. | Hi, It's not problem of Vista only AVG which probably was uninstalled incorrectly. Check Run -> services.msc if there are an AVG services. If yes run cmd in elevated mode and use sc delete command. | I've had the same problem. Like M. Domaslawski wrote, AVG 7.5 did indeed leave behind two entries in services.msc, however they could not be deleted, not in any mode. What I did was reinstalling AVG, then shut down the two services, and once again unistalled AVG. That did the job. On a slightly different subject: Is it possible to permanently remove entries in HKLM`Software`Microsoft\Security Center\Monitoring, even though remains from uninstalled software still lurks around?
