Two directly connected with xp - can only access one direction

Posted: 09-24-2003, 05:30 AM
I've never set up a network before. After reading archived posts for a few
days I'm almost there. Here's what I've got.

Two XP machines - one Pro, one Home connected by a crossover patch CAT5
cable to their NICs.
IPs set at 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.0.2
Both in the same workgroup
User with same name and password on both machines
ZoneAlarm set up to recognize each other as Trusted
Windows firewalls disabled
They ping each other and show up in each other's "Entire Network"
Running Norton Antivirus/SystemWorks 2003 (read that might be a problem)

Anyways the XP Pro machine can access the XP Home, but not vice-versa. When
I double-click on the Pro machine from the Home one I get a login box, but
when I enter the name and pass of the shared account the login box just
reappears.

I'd sure appreciate any help.

Doug
