| I am running Vista Business and was having no problems using a mobile broadband USB modem until last week when I stopped being able to connect when using a standard login, but can still connect when logged in as administrator. User Account Control is switched off. Have replaced the modem, uninstalled and reinstalled the software/drivers, etc etc but it seems to be a Vista problem rather than being related to either the modem or the ISP software. Nobody from my ISP, computer manufacturer, or modem manufacturer has any idea how to fix the problem. Thanks for any help you can offer. -- alex | Guest

| YES! Thanks so much. I had been advised to turn off UAC to "fix" another problem - having a "Wireless Switch Setting Utility" box pop up and ask for Administrator permission... but 'm much happier to put up with the minor annoyance of that, now that I can get connected again! -- alex "SG" wrote: Quote:

| Hi, Glad it's working and UAC pop-up's are a minor annoyance, but no where near the annoyance you have just witnessed by turning it off. A lot went into the devolvement of UAC and it's there for your protection, leave it on. I'll add your problem to my notes of the ramifications of turning it off can and will cause. Thanks for posting back. -- All the best, SG "alex" <alex@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:50FE7B11-671D-4B18-8696-AB4B0CC7E6BB@microsoft.com... Quote:
