Unable to install Windows Messenger onto Vista.

Default Unable to install Windows Messenger onto Vista.

I’m running Vista Beta 2 Build 5384 and I’m unable to install Windows
Messenger (not to be confused with MSN Messenger or Windows Live Messenger)
I’ve attempted to install Windows Messenger 5.1 (5.1.0639) and Windows
Messenger 5.1 (5.1.0701) and they both display the same error message.

If I start the installer and get the welcome screen, I click Next, I then
accept the EULA after a few seconds Windows Vista’s User Account Control
(UAC) pops up asking if I wish to Canel or Allow this application to access
my computer, so I click on Allow.

Next I get the message “Windows Messenger 5.1 was not installed – This
installation was interrupted. No changes were made to your computer system.
Please try running this installation again”
If I retry the install I get the exact same error.

I need to be able to use Windows Messenger, as opposed to MSN Messenger or
Windows Live Messenger due to the ability of Windows Messenger allowing me to
use the Exchange Server as an IM server and thus communicate with other
members of our company.

Try the Office Communicator 2007. If you have Office 2007, it should come
with Groove 2007...

Try disabling UAC then install Windows Messenger, click Start > All Programs

Login as the administrator (article here:
http://www.vistabase.co.uk/welcome.p...ocaladminlogin) and
install then. It should work fine then. Some applications still need the
"full admin" to install, because the transistion from XP to Vista hasn't
been sorted in some installers.

Because it was delayed - sat in my Outbox until it finished syncronising the
