Unable to Delete NAS backup ShadowCopy Files

Posted: 11-02-2008, 11:32 PM

I can't believe how hard this is turning out to be. My SATA drive gav
out a warning that it was failing. No big deal, I thought. I've got
spare and a 1TB NAS to backup to. Windows (Ultimate 32x) offered to bac
up for me, so I figured, go ahead

I backed up to the NAS (Buffalo Linkstation pro). After 2.5 days o
processing the backup, I had enough so I canceled it. I figured I coul
just manually move the files over. Unfortunately, Windows created
folder on my NAS that is now 500gb big and I can't get rid of it

I tried the cleanup disks, but that only seems to work for locall
attached files. I don't have any permission on the folder on my NAS
even in Windows Administrator mode

I have no idea what to do now, other than format my NAS, which I don'
want to do because I'll lose some files I don't have room for. An
ideas

Why don't you try booting in safe mode. If that doesn't work, check out a
small freeware utility: Unlocker. One or the other should get you back where
you want to be.

Good luck.\

Sorry, I should have been more specific. The folder isn't locked by th
backup utility, it's a permissions issues. I can't get permission on th
folder, even from an administrator
