Unable to fix IP address on wireless connection

Posted: 11-27-2008, 09:25 AM
Hi, I'm having a few issues with setting a fixed IPv4 address for a
Vista Ultimate x64 machine on my wireless network. It works fine with
an automatically assigned IP address, but the network connection drops
out when I try fixing it. It comes back again when I set them to auto
again.

I'm not doing anything lame like trying to use a weird ip address or
the wrong subnet mask or default gateway, in fact the connection
breaks even when I enter exactly the same details as I get from an
ipconfig query.

I'm using a Dlink wireless antenna, Belkin router.

Are there any known bugs with this area or common problems, or is it
probably something I'm doing?

Travis

Posting back the result of ipconfig /all may help. Also have you installed
the latest NIC driver?

I downloaded a Dlink driver for a newer model antenna which worked, as
Dlink didn't bother to create a signed x64 driver for mine. Seems to
work fine.

Ipconfig /all output coming up.

First, this is what it looks like right now, with an automatically

And here is the same with IP fixed at 10.1.1.3: connectivity reports
as local only, I can't get internet but there is obviously some
connectivity because the remote desktop session I had going to another
computer on my LAN continued to work, even after the internet dropped
dead.
