Unable to go into STANBDY mode (Dell 8200)

Posted: 08-26-2003, 12:35 AM
I have a cable modem through Comcast and, ever since I got
WinXP, I am unable to go into standby mode. It tells me
that COM port 1 is in use and makes standby mode
impossible (or something to that effect). Then, my
pointer disappears! I can move the mouse but the pointer
is gone and doesn't come back until I reboot!

Why can't I use Standby mode (and what's with that wierd
disappearing pointer side effect)?
