unable to read or write in japanese

recently purchased microsoft office for mac. i'm able to read and
write japanese in word files, but unable to do so for excel. any
ideas???

We have the same problem. We use a Swedish version of Excel and want to
create new excel documents in japanese. It works great in Word and Entourage
but not in Excel. MacOSX 10.2.8 and Office 10.1.5
