Unable to reload XP HE

Posted: 03-02-2004, 07:13 AM
Trying to do a fresh re-install, either from ME or a boot disk, the install
fails complaining that my C: drive has multiple OSs on it. In fact, it has a
single, empty FAT32 partition. How can I get past this obstacle? TIA

Hi,

Boot the WinXP CD, start the installer. Delete the existing partition(s),
create new ones as part of setup. No need to use any boot floppy here, the
disk is bootable.

Hi,

Is this a SATA or RAID drive? If so, you need to load the drivers from the
manufacturer first.

Hi,

Boot a WinME (9x) startup floppy and delete all partitions. Shut down, boot
with the XP CD, start the installer. Make sure any bios-level av detection
routine is disabled.
