Unable to rip to mp3 using WMP 10

When attempting to rip to mmp3 with WMP I get an error
than a compatible mp3 encoder is not installed. I thought
WMP 10 supported mp3. What's Up?

Three questions.
1) If you change the bitrate to anything other than 128kbps does it work?
2) Did you have the MP3 Pack installed before so you could rip to MP3 in WMP
9? (Only answer if 1 does not help)
3) What version of l3codecp.acm is on your system? (Only answer if 1 does
not help)
