unknown down-loading? and sound

Posted: 01-25-2004, 06:55 AM
WinXP/Home/SP1/02 ver.
IE6/DSL

I started hearing some 'Microsoft-sounding' (alarm?) while
on my computer and there is no dialog that appears
anywhere about it, nothing in the taskbar ect... I'm
always connected to the net even while working in
Photoshop, and it seems to start after I've been on for a
couple hours, at 2-4 minute intervals.
It kinda reminded me of Mess. or Aim but those are
disabled..This is unusual for me anyway.
****************************
Also, my computer started down-loading a ton of files
while I was on, just spontaneously, no warning or the
usual pop-up update notices and relating dialog. In the
relatively little experience Ive had this doesn't normaly
occur without the 'heads up' at least.

Spyhunter/NortonSys.Dr./ZoneAlarm

Thanks so much for your help!

>Hi and thanks for responding,
No I do not have this "Plus", this sound just started
happening recently, I bought the system in May 03.
There's been a couple of recent Microsoft virus updates
that I have automatically, all other updates are "auto-
engaged" also. I keep everything updated.
I'll check the link you gave..
Thanks!
