How are you connecting? Via firewire? If so then for best quality you want
to save teh file as a dv-avi file anyway, use this for editing and then save
to whichever format you require for the finsished product.

An unknown error has occurred

I am attempting to use Windows Movie Maker for the first
time with a Canon Optura DV camera connected to an IEEE
1394 port. I am running Windows XP Home, SP1 with 1GB of
RAM and a 1GHz P4 processor.

The Canon DV Device appears in the Video Capture Wizard
window but, when ready to actually start the capture, I
receive an immediate Windows Movie Maker message
stating "An unknown error has occurred."

Can anyone suggest what may be happening and how I should
proceed?

Hopefully,
Gene
