Unstable system

I have been using XP Home Edition for a few months and
have been enjoying it. However, lately I am having a lot
of problems with my system shutting off in the middle of
listening to music both on Real Player and Kaaza. When it
reboots itself, it says that it recovered from a serious
error. The other frustrating things when I use the search
function it usually ends up not responding. I am also
having the same problem with some larger folders. I
cannot rearrange or rename files because comes up not
responding intermittmently. It is also really slow.
Please help.
