Unwanted error beeps

Hi, I have a lenovo t60p thinkpad, and no matter what ive tried to do, every
now it then it gives out a loup "beep". unless my volume is muted, its
pretty loud, even if the volume is set very low. is there any way i can
disable ALL error beeps or indicator beeps of any kind to prevent this?

My operating system is Windows XP

If you are running Windows XP then you should probably be posting this
inquiry to a Windows XP newsgroup rather than a Vista newsgroup.

Hi,
Open soundmixer by double-clicking the speaker icon in systray.
See if there is any slider marked as PC-Speaker.
Turn it down in order to reduce the annoying sound.
If the PC-Speaker slider is not present, choose "Options", "Properties",
make a check on PC-Speaker (or whatever it is called) and accept.
You sould be now able to control its volume.
Not sure whether this applies or not to your notebook but it won't hurt
trying.
