Unwanted programs, missing files at startup

Posted: 08-23-2006, 04:43 AM
I'm trying to clean up a computer that had a lot of unwanted stuff opening
at startup. I ran msconfig and cleaned out the startup programs. Ran Control
Panel/Add and Remove Programs, cleaned that out. Now on startup I still get
these messages:

Message box headed RUNDLL
Error loading C:\Program Files\Acceleration
Software\anti-virus\sstsmon.dll
The specified module could not be found.

Message box headed WJView Error
Error: Could not find Main:
The system cannot find the file specified.

There must be a place in the system that I need to exercise to remove these
processes. Help me if you can.

The RUNDLL is from the antivirus software that was partialy uninstalled, the
wjview must be MJVM,usually to chk that one types in cmd:jview Which if
text is displayed its installed,if not it isnt. For the antivirus, you might
go to
run, type:services.msc In msc,see if some part of the antivirus is
listed,if so,
double click,select disable.For MJVM,open update catalog,server 2003,web
edition,its the first listed.

I opened 'services.msc' and didn't find anything that looked like
Acceleration Software or other anti-virus.

I don't know how to open 'update catalog'.

I found 8 files labeled RUNDLL.EXE-(numbers) in windows/prefetch. All are
dated during the time I was deleting programs, etc. None of them contained
'stsmon' (or the same separated by spaces). Would there be a problem if I
deleted these files?

Thanks for your continuing help.
Frank
