Updated Graphics

Am running 5477 RC2 was using 64mb graphics and had partial aero. Took the
plunge to a 256mb graphics and now get full aero, it is really good, am
impressed and can recommend it.

Under Vista your 256Mb card will use another 220-250Mb of ram out of your
total ram installed.

I did the same thing. My NVIDIA 6150LE was running AERO Graphics, because it
was a hyper-chip that used not only internal memory but system memory as
well. I upgraded to a 7300GS and the change was apparent. Not only did it
process AERO better, but it increased the speed of the computer overall.
It costed a little, but I figure it was well worth the $115 I spent.
The only downside I found was that I expected my WEI to go up, and on the
graphics card, it did, but on the Gaming graphics, still 3.0. I have yet to
figure out why that is. but I am sure I will soon enough..

But like you, I would say, use a real card. It will make things better.

The 7300GS and GT use system memory as well as their own memory.
Nearly all the 7300 cards and up do.
In the tech info for the cards it says that they have around 512Mb ram(but
that is by using system as well)
In XP graphics card info does not show it as using system memory but in
Vista IT DOES.

Indeed, it does share memory with the system. But in XP it did as well, it
just didn't show it.
But having the better onboard memory does help. My card shows 256 onboard,
and 256 shared. Which is cool. I think they call that the "hyperchip," or
"Hypermemory" or something like that.
The beauty of cards that share memory with your computer is that they are
usually cheaper. But unlike the 6150LE I had before, which would say "256 MB"
and ended up being only 64 onboard, the 7300GS actually has the 256 onboard
and shows that there is 256 available, but doesn't always use it, unless it
is needed.
