upgrading xp he sp1 to xp pro - dvd-ram uncompatability

Posted: 01-21-2004, 06:55 PM
I am trying to upgrade xp home sp1 to xp pro and a dvd-
ram uncompatability message pops up. It looks like I
would need xp pro sp1, but how do I obtain that? If
anyone can provide assistance to resolve this
uncompatability problem, that would be greatly
appreciated.

Thank you.

XP Pro with SP1 on the CD should be available in the retail boxes at the
stores.

Service Pack 1 is basically the same between Home Edition and Professional
Edition. After upgrading to Professional edition, you can simply reinstall
SP1 from the web or whatever media you installed it from in the first place.
The Windows Update site will detect whether you need SP1 installed or not.
