Hi, There are three things that you can try, one of them should work (1) you
can using an old hacked divX codec on your system. (2) You need to updated
you video driver. (3) Goto Tools>>Options>>Performance, Advanced, and
uncheck use video mixing rendered

I have the K-Lite codec pack. I have had it for quite some time. It seems that only one of my films is upside down...of course it is Southpark. ) The rest of my movies seem alright but what is funny is that this movie worked ok the first few times we watched it but now it is upside down. Any other suggestions
Thank

Well installing new video drivers isn't going to make the video's work dude :P sorry. He needs to download appropriate codecs for the video's he's trying to watch. I suggest K-Lite codec pack because I use it on several of my PC's and it works great. In fact, I have it silently install with my unattended XP installation, because I want the codecs on my comps

Well, I guess I will have to explain this more.

This is general caused by DivXG400 filter. The fact that he *needs* the
right codec is not the problem. He already has the codec or the video would
not be decoding, thus not producing an image at all. Now updating the
*current* codec could be the answer, but its it *NOT* done by install a
codec pack with a different codec included.

Codec pack's such as K-Lite and others cause problems with WMP and Windows.
Not to mention that they included hacked and cracked codec's that you didn't
pay for. Most call this piracy!

The video driver comes into play when the driver has been corrupt, install
poorly, or has a bad config.. Reinstalling the driver will reset the
config. (Many cards have features trough drivers to enable the "upside" down
playback.

The mere fact that "it works for you" is not going to help the OP. It would
in fact add to the problem. Knowing that the video is already being decoded
installing a second codec on-top of the one he already had *will* confuse
WMP unless it's the *exact* same codec and *exact* same version.

Uninstall any codec packs and install FFDShow. That might help. Now
knowing that you have installed such codec packs on your system you might be
screwed.

Ok, I'm very impressed by your long winded explanation of codecs, however I know that installing the K-Lite codec pack is how I fix my issues. It's how I've fixed people's pc's who couldn't play video's I gave them. You said yourself it "might" be the solution, but yet you tell him not to do it. Installing a codec pack doesn't "screw" your system, it has an uninstall option after all :

Call up Microsoft Support and ask them how many people report problems with
"codec packs" You might be very suppressed. Uninstalling the codec's
does little to really fix the problem. Most of the time their uninstaller
just remove the folder in the Program Files where they put the shortcuts to
configure the codec's. About half of the codec's and not even unregistered
during the uninstall and stay on the system. Other are unregistered, but
still stay on the system. This makes installing other codec's up-top of
them very confusing to Windows XP.

I deal with issues with WMP and codec's everyday. I know that codec packs
suck and cause many problems with WMP and Windows. K-Lite is the "best" one
that I have seen, but that doesn't make me want to recommend it to people
trying to fix there PC's.

I have offered my suggestions for the problem at hand. One of them should
help. if not, and as the OP said "It seems that only one of my films is
upside down" then the video was encoded poorly. If that truly is the case
they can re-encode the file using an video editor and rotate the clip in
order for it to encode right. Now, that being
said....http://support.microsoft.com/default...;EN-US;q269967 can
introduce more problems when encode a file.
