Posted: 04-05-2006, 06:51 PM
I just bought an External HD. ULTRA tells me to get it to work correctly I
must install SP1 USB drivers to my SP2 system. I have searched but can't
figure this out and ULTRA is useless in giving me instruction. Please help
Thanks Kate

SP2 has everything that SP1 had included included.

Exactly what is the problem with the hard drive.... Did you right click on
My Computer, select Manage... on the following screen, click on Disk
Management.

If it is correctly installed, it will show up on the right hand side of the
screen..... partition it, format it and assign it a drive letter. Now it
will show up in Windows Explorer. No version of Windows can 'see' an
unpartitioned and unformatted drive.

It does show up there but as unallocated and I cannot find how to format or
change that. It's the maker of the External Enclosure that has told me
this. Can you tell me how to format and I will try it.
Thanks Kate

Ah Seagate shows to right click and initialize but I only have partition. I
picked that and it is formatting now. Hope that does it. Have no idea what
ULTRA was talking about with USB drive.
