USB Mass Storage Device

My Computer comes up with this message when connecting
flash drives + mp3 players. it allocates a new drive but
then wont open "E:\ is not accessable. The request could
not be performed because of an I/O Device error"

It seems to have started since service pack 2, I can't
work out how to reinstate all my USB drivers to original
state.

Hi,

which protocol is generally used for pen drives on windows?
Is it bulk only and SCSI command set?

Is there any tool that shows the communication between the host and the
device?
