USB Mass storage device problem

I've recently purchased a Minolta E223 camera, and I'm
having an awful time getting it to talk to my PC. When I
plug it in and switch it on, Windows goes through the
detection and installation procedure -- "USB Mass Storage
Device", "MINOLTA DiMAGE", "MINOLTA DiMAGE USB
Device", "Disk Drive" -- when it gets to the last one, the
machine hangs. If I then turn the camera off, it all
springs back to life. I have all the latest drivers,
updates, etc., I've even tried a clean install, but
nothing seems to help.

I've seen similar queries from people before, but never an
answer. Anyone got any bright ideas? Cheers...
