Well folks I'm back. Thought I would start a new thread because I think I
have narrowed down the problem.
The problem I have is that I cannot install a USB printer on the system (MS
XP home). The system recognizes the ports, I have other items running on the
USB ports. But XP will not recognize the printer drivers running on USB. If
I go into the printer screen and try to install a printer manually it will
not give me USB as a choice for the port.
I think the problem is that I installed a printer (Eltron) that was designed
for 98 or NT 4 and it installed its own port minitor (which doesn't work in
XP) but at the same time screwed up the XP printer port minitor. If I go to
add a port to the choices available it gives me choices among which is
"eltron USB port minitor" but it will not run.
I installed this printer a long time ago and the system will not restore
back that far. Is there any method you guys know about to restore (manually,
I asume) the XP port monitor?
Thanks in advance.
Peter
