USB Problems with Compaq Evo N610C & Advance Port Replicator

Hi Folks

I'm not alone when I say I'm having problems with my new
Compaq Laptop combined with the Advanced Port
Replicator. The number of posts to HPs forum site
sggests this problem has been kicking around since 2001
and still no fix!!!!

The problem is that any USB hub connected to one of the 3
USB 2.0 ports on the APR repeatedly Power-Down then back
up again without warning. Rendering any USB device
(Webcam, CD Writer, CF-Card Reader, Bluetooth key in my
case) useless.

Compaq have shipped me replacement APR after APR and even
different versions but all no good!

I understand Microsoft have a fix against Q816509 as a
known problem in Windows XP - SP1, but as yet its not
being made avaialable to the public. Does anybody have a
copy of this patch they could send me?
