USB stopped working - how to fix?

When I plug in any USB device nothing happens. No beeps, no alerts,
nothing. It was working several weeks ago, then suddenly stopped.

I am running Windows XP SP2 on a Dell 400 MHz CPU Intel Pentium II, 384MB
RAM, 200+GB HD

When I look at the device drivers it is says everything is working.
Intel 82371AB/EB PCI to USB Universal Host Controller
Version 5.1.2600.0
I/O Range 1400-141F
IRQ 09
No Conflicts.

USB Root Hub
2 Ports available
Version 5.1.2600.0

How do I fix something that isn't broken, but is? How would I reinstall the
USB?
